Meet our guest artist Wendy Bailye and see her fabulous felt
Felt is possibly the easiest way to create fabric but Wendy has taken this humble craft to a whole new level. From chunky bags and tea cosies, to gossamer thin scarves, wraps and sculptured hats, Wendy's work shows what is possible with felt. An explosion of colour and texture is part of the appeal.
"I love it. I dream it. I lose myself in it, and I find myself in it," she explains. Gaining inspiration from life experience, the beautiful rural setting she lives in and the natural world, her love of shape, form, texture and colour are evident in her work, which has been purchased by private collectors in Australia, Germany, Japan and Hong Kong.
Felting has many practical and modern applications and requires only wool fibre, a little soap and water and "lots of enthusiasm and creativity". Taking tufts of pure wool, hand dyed in a myriad of colours, Wendy felts them into exquisite pieces with embellishments of hand dyed pure silk, mohair and exotic threads.
Meet Wendy and see her work on display at the fair.
