Thursday - June 26

Make a Coiled Basket with Raffia and Fabric

Presented by Vicki Fowler from Basketmakers of Victoria

Session 1 – 10.15am to 12.45pm

Session 2 – 1.15pm to 3.45pm

Learn the technique of coiling, in this colourful and happy workshop, to craft a basket using recycled materials. No two baskets are alike.
The method uses hand dyed raffia and blanket stitch around a core of colourful fabrics. You will learn how to start, shape and finish a basket. All skill levels are welcome from beginners to experienced basketmakers.

Session cost: $100

Students to bring: Sharp scissors and drinking water.

All materials supplied: A tapestry needle to take home; hand dyed coloured raffia; laundered recycled fabric; instructions; wool/yarn and various trims.

Friday - June 27

Fabric Printing with Flowers

Learn the Japanese art of tataki-zome – the craft of transferring natural botanical dyes onto fabric by hammering flowers. Create printed fabrics or papers with this somewhat weird fabric printing technique.

This hands-on class is fun and may just be the most unusual workshop you’ll attend all year.
Create a wide range of designs with your finished paper and fabric. All skill levels are welcome.

All materials are supplied: flowers, hammers, boards and a linen tea towel – everything you need to make your own printed sampler. Just bring a sense of humour!

Zhuzh Up Your Jeans

Presented by Deb Boutzetis of Hi I’m Deb

Reimagine your wardrobe with the meditative art of slow stitching. Cover a stain, repair a hole or embellish a boring garment and create a unique piece of wearable art.

You will learn the fundamentals of colour, pattern and placement as well as the basic embroidery stitches required to complete your garment.

Please note the garment will not be finished in the workshop but you will leave with the skills and materials to complete it in your own time

Students to bring: a garment to work on: denim, cotton or linen preferred.

All other materials supplied: embroidery threads, decorative patching fabrics, backing fabrics, needles and scissors.

Resin Jewellery Workshop

Presented by Lucy Dujmovich

Lean how to make Earrings or a necklace using your choice of colours, shapes, and real dried flowers—plus extras like glitter or gold flakes to make your piece truly unique.

You will learn how to safely mix and use UV resin, add pigments and inclusions, and finish your pieces with a smooth, professional touch. You’ll also attach jewellery hardware like earring hooks or a necklace chain to turn your creation into wearable art.

All materials supplied: Non-toxic UV resin, pigments, glitters, dried florals, silicone moulds, and jewellery hardware (like hooks, chains, and jump rings).

Requirements: Age 10+

Foam Clay Mirror Workshop

Presented by Lucy Dujmovich

Session cost: $85

Learn how to make a fun, colourful mirror frame covered in soft, squishy foam clay in playful patterns and bold colour combos. Your mirror will be ready to take home and display.

You will learn how to work with air-dry foam clay, blend colours, create 3D textures, and evenly cover surfaces. You’ll also explore how to design eye-catching, expressive patterns.

All materials supplied: Foam clay in a rainbow of colours, a mirror and stand frame, and adhesive tools to help apply your design.

Sunday - June 29

Watercolour Floral Introduction

Presented by Amanda Sharples

In this introduction to the wonderful world of watercolour painting, you will learn how to paint various flowers: roses, coneflowers, forget-me-not, ranunculus, African daisies, tulips and wild roses.

Brushstrokes, water control in painting wet on wet, wet on dry, interesting design, layering and blending techniques are covered to create a beautiful painting on quality A4 watercolour paper.

Suits: beginners, aged 12 and over. Skills learnt will enable you to create floral cards, art journals, sketchbook and scrapbooking pages, and art projects.

Students to bring: an apron and drinking water.

All material provided: Water containers, watercolour paint, paint brushes, paper towels, watercolour paper, sketch paper, pencil and erasers will be provided for use in class.

Abstract Floral Watercolour Class

Learn to paint abstract florals using acrylic ink and watercolour. Brushstrokes, wet on wet, wet on dry, water control, layering and blending are used to create two beautiful abstract floral paintings on quality A5 watercolour papers.

Suits: beginners, aged 12 and over. Learn skills to create floral cards, art journals, sketchbook and scrapbooking pages and art projects.

Students to bring: an apron and drinking water.

All materials provided: Water containers, watercolour paint, brushes, paper towels, watercolour paper, sketch paper, pencil and erasers will be provided for use in class.
