Meet the Artist
Better known to global craft communities as 'Boy Knits World', Jake has been practising and exhibiting work internationally since 2006. Comprising mainly yarn and needlecraft techniques, his work ranges from knitted cityscape and landscape blankets to heirloom motifs and original characters.
Recognisable influences include folk art traditions and popular culture, with a focus on elements of collectability, reproducibility and practical pattern-making. Jake's most well-known works use a number of knitted colourwork techniques to translate historic building facades into soft, tactile, and highly detailed knitted objects.
Colourwork, taught block by block
In Jake's workshop sessions, you can learn all of the colourwork techniques needed to knit block patterns from Knit the City. The workshop includes row-by-row guided knitting of one block from either Sydney or London, setting each participant up to begin their own project.

Jake's new book: Knit the City
As a feature artist at this year's show, Jake will be exhibiting many of his works and signing copies of his newly released book, Knit the City, throughout the week.
Visitors to the Brisbane Craft & Quilt Fair will have the opportunity to have it personally signed by the artist.
